The 5th (2016) International Conference on Publishing Industry and Publishing Education in the Digital Era Call for Papers

  The development of digital technologies promotes the digital transformation of the global publishing industry and publishing higher education. On the worldwide scope, due to the continuous expansion of digital publishing and the upgrade of traditional publishing industry, the capital market keeps chasing after the digital publishing. In China, the digital publishing is in the ascendant and the traditional publishing upgrades as well. The revenue of the Chinese digital publishing industry have reached to 330 billion RMB in2015, which was the fastest growing area among all fields of press and publishing industry. In 2015, The Chinese government has issued a series of policies to strongly promote the impetus of the digital publishing industry, such as Guidance on Active Boost of ‘the Internet+’, Executive Summary of Accelerating the Big Data Development, CPC’s Instructions of the Prosperity and Development of Chinese Literary, etc. With support from the policies, the digital industry has made great achievements. The scale of digital publishing industrial enjoyed sustained growth, transformation and upgrade of traditional publishing have made a big achievement, and copyright protection and talents training have leaped forward greatly. In this background, the Wuhan University, China, the Pace University, USA, GAPP’s Publishing Executive Training Center of Wuhan University and the Higher Education Press co-sponsor this conference, which will take place on October 22 and October 23, 2016 in Wuhan University. We aim to share ideas on the hot issues, such as the development of digital industry and publishing education. You are invited to join us in this exciting discussion!

1. Topics

  Topics include but are not limited to:

  a. Theoretical Exploration

  The theories on new media, digital transmission, digital publishing, digital narrative, the theoretical paradigm of publishing research in the digital age, etc.

  b. Industry Development and Innovation

  the digital transformation of trade/ educational/ academic/ professional publishing, e-newspaper publishing, database publishing, mobile publishing, the online literature publishing, video-game publishing, app publishing, data publishing, digital publishing and the Internet advertisement, etc.

  c. Technology and Application

  semantic web, semantic publishing, enhance publishing, AR publishing, data mining, open access, data link, digital editing, eScience, digital academics, open science, etc.

  d. Management Innovation

  Digital publishing ethics, digital publishing law, digital publishing copyright, digital publishing quality, publishing evaluation, big data and publishing plans, integration of traditional publishing and digital publishing, user generated contents, reader and user information behavior, content marketing, publishing identification (URI, ROI, etc.), etc.

  e. Publishing Education

  Discipline construction of publishing in the digital age, training mode of digital publishing and new media talents, the development of higher education and vocational education in the digital age, human resources construction of digital publishing and new media enterprises, contrastive analysis between Chinese and international talent-training, ability structures of digital publishing talents, etc.

2. Paper Submission

  a. All submissions can freely choose topics under the conference theme. They must be unpublished with the originality, strong focus and logical argument.

  b. The conference accepts both Chinese and English contributions.

  c. The manuscript should include:

   • Title

   • Names of Authors

   • Affiliation, address and zip code

   • Corresponding Chinese and English abstract (150 words or so)

   • 3-5 Chinese and English key words

   • Paper text (Normally, the sub-headline that no more than third level is acceptable. All headlines should labeled with serial Arabic numbers.)

   • Bibliography (Please refer to Publishing Journal format)

   • The author introductions: name, gender, YOB, affiliation, title, working duty, research orientation, contacts (the mailing address, phone numbers and e-mail address)

   • Notice: For papers written in Chinese, please offer an English version of above-mentioned 1-3 items. For the papers written in English, please offer a Chinese version of above-mentioned 1-3 items.

  d. The proper length of the paper is within 6,000 words.

  e. For e-version, Word document please. If mailing hard copies, please print the paper single face on A4 paper.

4. Other Items

  a. All submissions are subject to peer review organized by the expert groups. On the basis of that, authors of the distinguished papers will be invited to the conference. The papers will be published in a collection (extra charges). The Publishing Journal (CSSCI) will also select some papers to publish.

  b. At least one author of the accepted papers should attend the conference.

  c. The conference will reward the best papers and best student papers after evaluation.

  d. The registration fees for each attendee are ¥800 (50% off for students).
