2019-06-30 13:38:02

The origin of the department can be traced back to the establishment of the "Special Instruction on Records Management" at the Boone Library School of Wuchang in 1934. Now it has developed into a multi-layer, full-time education system including undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs, and postdoctoral research station, along with professional master's degree program on E-Government. There are 11 faculty members in total including 4 full professors (doctoral supervisors), 3 associate professors and 4 assistant professors. Among them, 1 acts as a director of the China Archives Society, 3 serve the Professional Committee of China Archives Society, and 1 was selected to enter the Seven One-hundred Talents Cultivation Project of Hubei Province. The Department has undertaken over 50 academic research projects in recent 10 years, and won 26 prizes at provincial and ministry levels. Each year the Department recruits about 40 undergraduates and 15 graduates. As an essential constituent of the Key Primary Subject of Library, Information and Archives Management at the state level, this program is also featured with research and teaching in the following fields: information resources management, electronic records management, government information resources management, digital archives and knowledge management, and archives and document heritage preservation.
