The Second East Lake Forum for Doctoral Students in Electronic Commerce

The Second East Lake Forum for Doctoral Students in Electronic Commerce was held in Wuhan University from July 15 to 16. The Forum was co-organized by the Center for Studies of Information Resources, Wuhan University, Wuhan Data Intelligence Research Institute, Hubei E-Commerce University Association, and our School. The theme of this Forum was Digital Commerce and Digital Transformation in the Era of Digital Economy.

Jinyuan Su, Deputy Director of the Training Department of the Graduate School of Wuhan University, Wei Lu, Dean of our School, attended the opening ceremony and addressed. They strongly affirmed and supported the holding of the Forum, and hoped that all the participating experts and scholars would take this opportunity to communicate, establish profound friendship, offer suggestions for electronic commerce subject construction and personnel training, and wish the Forum a complete success. Jiang Wu, Associate Dean of our School, presided over the opening ceremony.

In the special report session, Yezheng Liu, Professor at Hefei University of Technology, gave a report entitled Opportunities of E-commerce Research in the Age of Artificial Intelligence, pointing out that emerging information technology has brought new management objects, new management changes and new research methods. In view of the artificial intelligence that has attracted much attention nowadays, combining with specific examples, Yezheng Liu discussed the challenges existing in the application of artificial intelligence under the background of e-commerce, such as the pricing problems of taking advantage of first-time customers, and raising the price for old customers. Focusing on the three driving forces behind artificial intelligence, namely algorithm, data and computing power, he proposed three perspectives to explain the behavior of artificial intelligence system, and deeply analyzed artificial intelligence as a new opportunity for e-commerce research.

Ying Hua, Professor at University of International Business and Economics, gave a keynote report on Innovation Research in the Field of Internet Commerce Driven by Digitalization. She pointed out that under the background of digital economy and Web3.0, management science research has undergone changes such as data-driven, problem-oriented, interdisciplinary and methods integration. At the meso level (enterprise, platform) and micro level (individual), she explained the management science research in the digital age by combining several specific research results.

The topic shared by Donglin Chen, Professor at Wuhan University of Technology, was The Path and Cases of Digital Economy Empowering Industry with High Quality. He introduced the connotation of digital economy and the development status of industrial digitalization, thought deeply about the existing problems and future development of digital economy in China, analyzed the mechanism and path of digital economy empowering high-quality development of industries, and introduced different methods at different stages with specific cases.

Liyi Zhang, Professor at our School, shared the theme of E-commerce Research with Neuroscience. He mainly introduced the frontier research of NeuroIS, including what neuroscience can do, what research tools it has, how to apply it to the research of e-commerce and related research progress at home and abroad, and he also introduced multiple research methods.

In the excellent papers presentation and exchange session, 48 papers were presented and exchanged in five sub-venues.

On the afternoon of July 15, two sub-venues were set up. The theme of the first sub-venue was Data Mining and Behavior Analysis of Social Media. Weiwei Yan, Professor at our School, and Zhen Zhu, Professor at China University of Geosciences, Wuhan, made paper comments, and Zhongyi Hu, Associate Professor at our School, presided over the first sub-venue.

The theme of the second sub-venue was Intelligent Security Management Driven by Big Data. Ziming Zeng, Professor at our School, and Xinyuan Lu, Professor at Central China Normal University, made paper comments, and Chaocheng He, teacher of our School, presided over the second sub-venue.

On the morning of July 16, there were three sub-venues. The theme of the first sub-venue was Intelligent Knowledge Organization and Business Management. Jun Zhang, Associate Professor at our School, and Xiaochao Wei, Professor at Wuhan University of Technology, made paper comments, Chaocheng He presided over the first sub-venue.

The theme of the second sub-venue was Digital Commerce and Digital Transformation. Weiwei Yan and Huosong Xia, Professor at Wuhan Textile University, made paper comments, Nan Wang, Associate Professor at our School, presided over the second sub-venue.

The theme of the third sub-venue was Policy Text Analysis and Digital Economy Development. Yiwei Gong, Professor at our School, and Ling Zhao, Professor at Huazhong University of Science and Technology, made paper comments, Zhongyi Hu presided over the third sub-venue.

After selection, 8 papers won the first prize of the Best Papers in this Forum, 16 papers won the second prize of the Best Papers, and 19 papers won the third prize of the Best Papers.

Yiwei Gong presided over the closing ceremony and award ceremony.

Huosong Xia made a conclusion of this Forum. He pointed out that the Forum was well prepared, progressing smoothly, reflecting a high academic level and achieving good results, which was an extraordinary learning journey for the teachers and students attending the Forum. He said that the research topics of the report papers were closely related to e-commerce and the needs of the country and the people. He hoped that the East Lake Forum would move to a higher level in the future and attract more scholars to exchange and discuss academic views.
