Professor Ping Wu was Awarded the 2022-2023 Wuhan University Noble Character

On the morning of September 8, the 2023 Teachers' Day Celebration Ceremony of Wuhan University was held in Wuhan University Library. The Ceremony was to celebrate the 39th Teachers' Day and commend the award-winning teachers. At the ceremony, Taiyan Huang, CPC Secretary of Wuhan University, presented flower bundles to 10 2022-2023 Wuhan University Noble Characters, including Ping Wu, Professor at the Department of Publishing Science of our School.

As teacher, Ping Wu has been teaching for 40 years and has always insisted on giving lessons to undergraduate students, striving to learn from each other.

As tutor, she always insists on high-standard education and strict training, respects the independence of students' growth, educates, cares for and serves students in all aspects of study and life, and her impression among students has gone from "as kind as elder sister" to "as close as mother" to "as amiable as grandma". The scale of years records and witnesses Ping Wu’s perseverance and willingness to be stepping stone.

As scholar, she always adheres to academic integrity, does not keep up with the fashion, and adheres to the academic attitude of "sitting on the bench for ten years" and has been deeply rooted in her own research field.

Ping Wu is a scholar who made a comprehensive and full study of editing theory in China. In the 1980s, she undertook the courses of Library Science and Editing Science, and carried out the research on editing theory. Her works, such as New Theory of Library Science, Theory of Editing and Principles of Editing Science, are still classic textbooks for editing and publishing majors in domestic colleges and universities. She continued to expand the research field in editing science, systematically studies the editing thought of ancient books in China for the first time, and the three-volume History of Chinese Editorials Thought won the second prize of Humanities and Social Sciences Achievements of the Ministry of Education. She organized a team of nearly forty people to carry out the research on ancient agricultural books in China, which made outstanding contributions to the academic community to re-attach importance to the collection, collation and extensive research on ancient agricultural books.
