Elaine L.Westbrookscurrently serves as the Associate UniversityLibrarian for Research at the University of Michigan Libraries where sheadministers and coordinates the long and short-term objectives for thelibraries support of the research enterprise. She serves as a member ofthe executive committee, contributing to strategic planning efforts, programdevelopment and assessment, budget formulation and allocation of resources insupport of the Library's mission. Previous positions include Associate Dean forLibrary Operations at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Head of MetadataServices at Cornell University, as well as Digital Research Librarian and LatinAmerican Cataloger at the University of Pittsburgh. In 2004 she co-editedMetadata in Practicewith Diane Hillmann on ALA Editions. Herlatest book,Case Studies in Academic Librarianship Management, will bepublished on ALA Editions in 2016. She has presented her research at theDublin Core Metadata Initiative, the Library Information TechnologyAssociation, and the Coalition for Networked Information. Westbrooks earned a B.A in Linguistics and a Masters of Library andInformation Science from the University of Pittsburgh.
