On March 31, the 2022 Wuhan University "Torch Cup" Students Volleyball Match ushered in the final at the main hall of Zhuoer Gymnasium. After three tough games, the women's volleyball team of our school won the championship at 3: 0 defeating the School of Mathematics and Statistics, and Yuqi Xia, an 2018 undergraduate majoring in Library Science, won the Most Valuable Player award again. Our men's volleyball team won the fourth place. Xingrong Fu, CPC Secretary of the SIM, Yaolin Jiang, CPC Deputy Secretary of the SIM, all counselors of the SIM, and more than 300 undergraduate and graduate students were present to cheer for the players.

At 2 o'clock in the afternoon, when the third runner-up competed, the men's volleyball team of our school faced the School of Geodesy and Geomatics. Although it was defeated by 1: 2 in the end, the men's volleyball players made unremitting efforts, and the main attacker spiked the ball cleanly, and the setter passed the ball steadily and accurately. The wonderful blocking and beautiful serving showed the solid basic skills of the men's volleyball team and ignited the enthusiasm of the audience. The cheers of the SIMers resounded throughout the venue, and the drums of the cheerleaders constantly inspired the team members to go forward bravely. SIM men's volleyball team, move on, and the future can be expected.

At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, the women's volleyball team of our school beat the School of Mathematics and Statistics by 3: 0, successfully defending the "Torch Cup" championship and winning two consecutive championships. Before the start of the game, Xiankang Dou, Academician and President of Wuhan University, made an opening speech for the final. "I hope that students will get off the internet, out of the dormitory, and go to the playground, actively participate in all kinds of physical exercises, feel the passion of sports, and experience the joy of exercise. With the courage to strive for the peak, pursue excellence in value, integrate into your study and social practice, and complete self-cultivation and promotion from sports." After the speech, Xiankang Dou stepped onto the field and fired the starting gun of the "Torch Cup" final through a beautiful service.

In the final, the strength of the women's volleyball team of the School of Mathematics and Statistics should not be underestimated. In the three games, the women's volleyball team members of our school fell behind temporarily with a slight gap at the opening. However, they withstood the pressure, encouraged each other, calmly faced and analyzed, and caught up with strong psychological qualities. They cooperated with each other tacitly, served accurately, caught the ball steadily, and their wonderful spiking and blocking attracted cheers and applause from teachers and students present, which inspired the women's volleyball team members to struggle tenaciously. Finally, they won the championship with 3 wins of 25: 21, 25: 15, 25: 17.

Although the 2022 Wuhan University "Torch Cup" Students Volleyball Match ended, the sports spirit is eternal. Two consecutive championships of women's volleyball team and fourth place of men's volleyball team can't be separated from the hard work of every team member, the cheering of every SIMer, and the warm support of the SIM family. When winning the championship, all the members cheered! Winning the championship is not the end, but a new journey. Hope that the SIM volleyball team will always have a dream, be fearless, forge ahead and create new glories.
