On the morning of August 30, our School organized the first event of First-year Plan Freshmen Education. Qian Dai, CPC Deputy Secretary of our School, Lihong Zhou, Associate Dean of our School, teachers in charge of undergraduate teaching management and students affairs, 6 on-class members of the Communist Party of China and 223 freshmen attended the event.
Harelehax Habuletay, Counselor of 2023-grade, presided over the event.
In order to enhance the new students' understanding of the School, disciplines and majors, brochures of departments and the School were distributed before the event.
Lihong Zhou introduced the history, discipline strength, teaching staff, program settings and other information of the School of Information Management to the students, and he told the students to be strict with themselves, seize the opportunity, grasp the college time and actively meet the new challenges of study and life!
Xiaoliu Bai, Director of the Undergraduate Teaching Management Office, explained the latest undergraduates program, reminding everyone of their study plans and helping students establish a preliminary understanding of college study.
In order to help new students adapt to college life as soon as possible, the SIM Party Committee chose 6 excellent comrades from undergraduate CPC members, to serve as freshmen class assistants as on-class CPC members. After the class assistants introduced themselves, Qian Dai issued them letters of appointment.
Harelehax Habuletay conducted safety education, emphasizing the matters needing attention in property safety, traffic safety, drowning prevention safety and dormitory electricity safety, and advocating students to take the opportunity of military training to improve their physical fitness.
Qian Dai made a concluding address. She analyzed the differences between high school and university, and put forward three requirements: upward kindness, openness and tolerance, and self-discipline. "Clarify the development goal, pay attention to the main contradiction, and dare to accept the challenge", Qian Dai put forward expectations for the new students.
This event is one of a series of orientation activities for freshmen, and related events such as SIM history education, SIM touring and college life planning will be organized later to help new students adapt to the campus as soon as possible.
