On November 16th, the results of the national finals for the third (2024) China Higher Education Computer Contest - Smart Interaction Innovation Contest were announced. A project titled Elderly Companion: An Emotional Companion AI for Mild to Moderate Alzheimer's Patients, led by Professor Tingting Jiang from the Department of Information Management Science at our school, won an Excellence Award. Professor Tingting Jiang also received the “Outstanding Instructor Award.” The project was completed by ADC team, captained by Yin Zhang, a master’s student in Library and Information Studies, included members Defeng Song, a master’s student in Management Science and Engineering, and Xinyue Zhou, another master’s student in Library and Information Studies.
The ADC team, guided by the philosophy of "Empowering the Elderly with AI to Improve Quality of Life," designed an emotional companion AI app aimed at providing cognitive and emotional support to patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. This app aims to alleviate loneliness and anxiety among elderly patients while offering daily living assistance. Additionally, it seeks to reduce the burden on family members and assist doctors in making diagnostic judgments, contributing to the construction of an AI-assisted elderly care ecosystem.
The third (2024) China Higher Education Computer Contest - Smart Interaction Innovation Contest was organized by the National Higher Education Computer Education Research Association and jointly hosted by Zhejiang University and OPPO Company, with technical platform support from OPPO AI. This year’s contest attracted 3,256 teams from 445 universities, with only 38 teams advancing to the national finals.
