On May 14, the final of the 2021 "Take-off Cup" students basketball competition of Wuhan University came to an end. As the only school of Humanities and Social Sciences Division to enter the top four, SIM student men’s basketball team made a great achievement in history and won the third place with a score of 34:31.

The group match started from April 22. SIM basketball team competed with the School of Electrical Engineering and Automation, the School of Philosophy, the School of Geodesy and Geomatics, and then entered the top 16. In the 16-to-8 competition, SIM basketball team beat the College of Chemistry and Molecular Sciences to enter the top 8 with a score of 39-30.

On May 8, the elimination competition of the top four was held in Guiyuan Playground. SIM team competed fiercely with the School of Remote Sensing and Information Engineering, and finally entered the top four with a score of 37-29.

On May 12, the top 3 competition was held in Zhuo'er Gymnasium. SIM men's basketball team played against the men's basketball team of the School of Resource and Environmental Sciences. In the first session of the opening game, the team members scrambled for points continuously to open up the gap, and our school took the lead of 7:3 first. In the second session, the School of Resource and Environmental Sciences was not willing to be outdone, but to catch up. SIM chose to stay away from the edge, save their physical strength with conservative tactics and wait for the opportunity. Entering the third session, the players changed their tactics and adjusted their state to narrow the difference. In the decisive fourth session, the SIM men's basketball team showed amazing organizational power and became more and more courageous and reversed the score with a miraculous long pass, locking in the third place.

The 2021 "Take-off Cup" Student Basketball Competition of Wuhan University lasted 22 days, and 32 teams participated in the competition. SIM men's basketball team played seven games in succession, which showed our school students' fighting and enterprising youth style.
