In order to further study and implement the spirit of the important speech of General Secretary Xi Jinping at Tsinghua University, and implement the relevant requirements of the conference on the construction of new liberal arts of the Ministry of Education, to help the "double first class" discipline construction, the Forum on "Cultivation of Postgraduates Majored in Publishing Science from the Perspective of New Liberal Arts" was held at our school on May 30.

Professor Jie Xu, Director of the Department of Publishing Science, presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, Jie Xu and Associate Professor Lei Xu, Deputy Director of the Department of Publishing Science, respectively introduced the development of publishing major and the cultivation of postgraduates. The participants had an exchange and discussion on the topics of high-end Publishing professional talents training oriented to industrial upgrading and transformation, countermeasures for improving the quality of graduate education of Publishing specialty, discipline construction of Publishing specialty.

Yuguang Wang reviewed the development of Publishing major in Wuhan University under the title of Luojia Publisher Forum. He stressed that the Publishing major should not only cultivate "publishing industry practitioners", but also "publishing industry experts".

Zhiqiang Zhang introduced the application progress of the first-level discipline of Publishing Science. He pointed out that publishing education must have "boundaries" and guide and help students to get employment in the industry. We should strengthen the publicity of enrollment and attract cross-disciplinary students to apply for the major.

Jun Fan believed that the current basic theoretical research of Publishing Science needs to be further strengthened, and the cultivation of students' publishing feelings and methodology education should be paid attention to.

From the perspective of industry, Jianqing He pointed out that the students of Publishing should have deep writing skills, solid professional foundation, good communication ability and keen sense of insights.

Guozhong Cheng introduced the human resource team construction and relevant recruitment of the company, hoping that more talents would choose to participate in the career of publishing.

Xiaoguang Wang made a summary of the meeting. He expressed his gratitude to the experts for their valuable opinions and suggestions. He pointed out that we should fully listen to the opinions of experts, take advantage of the opportunity of training program reform, further promote the connotative development of our Publishing major, and make contributions to the sustainable and high-quality development of the industry.
