Virtual Meeting of Knowledge Entity Extraction and Text Mining in the Era of Big Data

On the evening of June 16, theVirtual Meeting ofKnowledge Entity Extraction and Text Mining in the Era of Big Data -- Interpretation by DIM Authors was successfully held. The meeting was sponsored by the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, and organized by Editorial Department ofData and Information ManagementDIM). The event was held via Tencent conference platform, and was broadcast on Xueshuzhi platform simultaneously. The event lasted nearly 3 hours, and the number of audiences exceeded 1,300. There was a heated discussion between the guest speakers and the participating teachers and students, and the atmosphere at the event site was harmonious and active.

People were invited to give an article report were as followings:

Jian Xu, Professor at the School of Information Management, Sun Yat-sen University,

Bolin Hua, Associate Professor at the Department of Information Management, Peking University,

Yijin Chen, Associate Professor at the School of Economics and Management, South China Normal University,

Chengzhi Zhang, Professor at Nanjing University of Science and Technology.

Xiaoliang Shen, Professor, Executive Deputy Editor of DIM presided over the meeting.

Xiaoliang Shen expressed his gratitude to the guest speakers and extended a warm welcome to the teachers and students. The initial issue of DIM was published in 2017. Nowadays, DIM is published by Elsevier Publishing House. Until now, it has been indexed in Scopus database, the Recommended List of High Quality Journals by the Federation of Management Societies of China (FMS), and AMI English journals list of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences Evaluation Studies (CASSES).

Xiaoliang Shen said that the Interpretation by DIM Authors was aimed at narrowing the distance between DIM excellent authors and readers, sharing research frontiers by telling stories behind articles, building a high-level academic exchange platform, and promoting academic exchanges and discipline development.

The guest speakers introduced their recent articles published in DIM, and shared the latest progress and development trends in respective fields.

With the theme ofThe Relationship Between the Change Tendency of Biomedical Hotspots Based on Entity Metrology and Fund Support, Jian Xu expounded in detail the relationship between biological entities and their funding. His research revealed the relationship between the research hotspots and discipline tendency in biomedical field and the funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH), and he also shared PKG data sets using multiple correlation dimensions.

The theme of Bolin Hua's report wasThe Method of Entity Extraction in Scientific Texts. He proposed an unsupervised method based on sentence patterns and part-of-speech sequences for the extraction of scientific text entities. The research work not only innovated the method, but also combined with practical needs of the industry.

Yijin Chen proposed a bi-directional long-term and short-term memory (Bi-LSTM) network model, which integrates attention mechanism, based on the automatic classification of public message topics in Intelligent Government Affairs, the Bi-LSTM model is applied in the e-government text classification, and realizes the automatic classification of public message topics.

With the theme ofResearch on Automatic Recognition and Application of Academic Articles' Text Structure, Chengzhi Zhang systematically reviewed the related research of academic articles’ text structure recognition, introduced the research progress of corpus tagging, automatic classification and information application of academic articles’ text structure in detail, and looked forward to the future research direction.
