Professor Xiaoguang Wang Gives a Keynote Report at the 20th International Forum on Publishing Students

On August 25, the 20th International Forum on Publishing Students, with the theme ofFuture Trends of Digital Publishing, was held in Beijing in a virtual and real combination meeting.

Haiyun Zhao, Deputy Director General and First-level Inspector of Import and Export Administration Bureau, Publicity Department of the CPC,Zhenxing Hao, President of China Redactological Society,Junko Tomikawa, President of Japan Publishing Society,Bingcheng Lu, President of South Korea Publishing Society, delivered speeches.Xiaoguang Wang, Professor and Associate Dean of our School, was invited to attend the meeting, and made the first academic report with the titleThe Logic and Approach of Digital Reconstruction of Ancient Books in the Age of Digital Intelligence.

Starting from the view of intelligent data resources and the concept of digital humanism,Xiaoguang Wangexplained the significance and the value in the times of the digital reconstruction of ancient books. He believed that the digital reconstruction of ancient books is an effective way to make the characters in ancient books come alive and present Chinese culture in a panoramic way. With the help of the intelligent computing method and technology of cultural heritage, the digital resources of ancient books will be upgraded into intelligent data of ancient books, thus supporting the innovation and upgrading of the publishing, reading, research, utilization and display of ancient books. It is the only choice for the activation and development of ancient books. InXiaoguang Wang's report, the concept connotation, basic logic, theoretical basis, key technologies, etc. of ancient books' digital reconstruction were systematically and deeply expounded, and the stack model and detailed realization approach of ancient books' digital reconstruction were put forward.

The International Forum on Publishing Students is jointly hosted by China Redactological Society, Japan Publishing Society and South Korea Publishing Society, and is held in three countries in turn. It is held every two years and has been held for 19 consecutive sessions. The 20th International Forum on Publishing Students was hosted by China Redactological Society. Eleven scholars from China, South Korea and Japan conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics such as digital publishing of ancient books, digital publishing of literature, micro-content publishing, production of AI content, integration of science and technology publishing and digital transformation of publishing industry. Digital reconstruction of ancient books is also one of the five research directions of the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University.
