Xiaoguang Wang, Professor, Associate Dean of the SIM,Wuhan University, Director of the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage, as guest speaker of the Forum, gave a report onFrom Silk Road Pearl to Cultural Heritage Data Center: A Thought on the Construction of Dunhuang Smart Dataat the panel session of Characters, Literature and Civilization in the Digital Era.
From the point of view of Dunhuang cultural heritage as the representative of ancient civilization, and the important witness of cultural exchange between the East and the West,Xiaoguang Wangprofoundly explained the great value of digital technology to realize the digital immortality of cultural heritage, and put forward the concept and construction idea of cultural heritage intelligent data based on the practice of Dunhuang intelligent data exploration. He believed that intelligent data is the advanced organizational form and expression of knowledge and information resources. Digital technology can not only realize the digital immortality of cultural heritage, but also realize the digital regeneration of cultural heritage in digital space by means of data association, knowledge fusion, virtual restoration, digital narration and intelligent interaction, and construct a new type of digital heritage that reflects the achievements of contemporary civilization and benefits future generations.
Xiaoguang Wangpointed out that Dunhuang was the center of trade and culture of the ancient Silk Road. Facing the transformation of social digitalization, Dunhuang cultural heritage resources need to be converted into modern digital collections. Therefore, he put forward the proposal of building a cultural heritage intelligent data center, which is of great significance and value in building an open cultural heritage communication network, developing digital humanities research, promoting humanities exchanges in the Belt and Road Initiative and the construction of Community of Shared Future for Mankind, spreading Chinese excellent traditional culture and realizing the continuity of human civilization in digital space.
The Harmony and Cooperation Civilization Forum is an important international forum of the International Confucian Association. It has been held once a year since 2020 and has been held for two consecutive sessions. The themes of the previous two forums were Sino-Japan Cultural Exchange and Mutual Learning of Civilizations and Enhancing Mutual Learning of Asian Civilizations and Promoting Common Development in Asia. The theme of this forum was Harmony and Cooperation -- Towards a New Era of Digital Civilization.
