In order to further strengthen the specializations construction, deepen the comprehensive reform of specializations, and further improve the level of specializations construction and the quality of education, on the afternoon of September 29, the School held aMeeting of the SIM Teaching Steering Committee and Seminar on Specializations Assessment.All members of the SIM supervision team,the SIM Teaching Steering Committeeand the department heads attended the meeting and seminar. The meeting and seminar was presided over byLihong Zhou, Associate Dean of the SIM,Wuhan University.

At the meeting, the heads of various specializations reported the preparations for the periodic inspection of first-class specializations, and specializations assessment, held a heated discussion on how to efficiently complete the first-class specializations construction goal and successfully pass the acceptance, and analyzed the existing problems and follow-up measures. At the same time, the participants also conducted in-depth discussions on the improvement of undergraduate teaching quality, the construction of textbooks, the employment of graduates, practical training courses and platform construction in the next stage.

Lihong Zhouaffirmed the achievements of the construction of first-class specializations at this stage. He emphasized that first-class specializations are an important platform for first-class talents’ education. Each department should attach great importance to the periodic inspection and specializations assessment, check the standards and documents list, complete the construction tasks with high quality, and ensure the acceptance on schedule. At the meeting, he also made specific arrangements for data collection, report writing and preparation of supplementary documents.
