On the afternoon of October 15, 2019, Dianli Yu, General Manager of The Commercial Press, was invited to give a lecture in the 212 Sunshine Academic Auditorium of our school. The lecture's topic was Cultural Confidence and International Competitiveness, and it was hosted by Professor Lifang Xu.
The keynote speaker Dianli Yu, General Manager and editor of The Commercial Press. He was awarded the honorary titles of Cultural Celebrity and Talents of the National Publicity and Culture System, 100 Publishing Workers in China, Outstanding Publishing Figures of China Publishing Government Award, National Leading Talents in the Press and Publishing Industry, and etc. and he has been awarded the special allowance of the State Council. He is an adjunct professor and doctoral supervisor of Beijing Normal University and Communication University of China. He committed himself to Assyriology, publishing and cultural research. He has published several books and translation works, such as The Humanism of Babylonian Law: A Study on the Origin of Humanism, Babylon and Assyrian Civilization, The Enlightenment Age of Human Nature: the Art and Thought of Ancient Mesopotamia, What is Publishing, and published more than 100 papers in the People's Daily, Guangming Daily, Social Sciences in China and other newspapers.

This lecture based on the concept of culture is the most important cornerstone of building a nation or country. He expounded the important role of culture in building the ideological and ethics foundation of a nation or country. He also described the efforts of The Commercial Press in the compilation of reference books, new style textbooks, the import of Western research works, and the collation of ancient books. The lecture made the teachers and students deeply realized that the important ideological enlightenment role of modern publishers on the way to a stronger country. At last, the students discussed about textbooks and classical literature education, innovation and accumulation of academic vocabulary, and etc.
