On September 11, School of Information Management of Wuhan University ushered in 2020-year-grade undergraduate freshmen. In the early morning, the staff and volunteers of our school arrived at the Meiyuan Playground to decorate the welcome site. At about 6:00 a.m., the first freshman of 2020-year-grade and her accompanying parents came to check in. The volunteers warmly received and completed the registration quickly. The arrival of new life made the quiet morning full of vitality.

In the morning, more and more new students swarmed into the welcome site, and a long queue quickly formed in front of the welcome tent. The freshmen were in turn for identity verification, check in and registration, get the campus card and gift bag. All the work was in order, and the service of the staff and volunteers was meticulous. After the procedures were completed, the students took a group photo with a welcome sign, leaving precious memories on the first day in the university.

The registration work of the freshmen was in full swing. Xingrong Fu, CPC Secretary of the School of Information Management (SIM), Wei Lu,Dean of SIM, Qian Dai, CPC Deputy Secretary of SIM, and Lihong Zhou,Associate Dean of SIM, came to welcome freshmen and their parents, and condoned the volunteers.

"Where is your hometown?"

"How was your journey to Wuhan University?"

"Can you find the way to the dormitory?"

"Have you had breakfast?"

Inquiries from leaders let the freshmen sweep away the fatigue of the journey and the tension of new to campus.

At 10:00 a.m., Jin Han, CPC Secretary of Wuhan University, Xiankang Dou, President of Wuhan University, and vice presidents Ping Wu, Yezhong Zhou and Qizhu Tang came to our school’s welcome site to learn about the registration of freshman, and had a warm talk with the staff and new students.

"Secretary Han and President Dou, can we take a picture with you?"

Several students who were checking in our school invited the leaders and teachers to take a picture together. Secretary Han and President Dou readily agreed. In the camera, the faces of teachers and students were full of bright smile, full of blessing and expectation for future life. President Dou encouraged the students to cherish time in university and become the pillars of society as soon as possible.

To highlight the characteristics of School of Information Management’s discipline, we put a time mailbox in front of the welcome site, and the instructors invited the freshmen to write a letter to the future themselves, based on the present and looking forward to the future. After the students completed the registration procedures, they put the letters into the mailbox. This letter carried their expectations and hopes for the future, and encouraged them to make continuous progress. During this period, our school also attracted interviews and live broadcasting of media such as China News Agency, Voice of Hubei, Wuhan Radio and Television Station.

The welcome work continued until about 6:00 p.m. In the year of 2020, 271 undergraduate freshmen were admitted to our school. They will celebrate the 100th birthday of SIM together, and open a new chapter of university life on the shore of East Lake and under Luojia mountain.
