Recently, China National Archives of Publications and Culture held an appointment ceremony for the Expert Committee. Xiaoguang Wang, Professor, Associate Dean of our School, Director of the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, and other 36 experts and scholars were engaged as members of the first Expert Committee.

Chengyong Liu, CPC Secretary and Curator of China National Archives of Publications and Culture, read out the appointment decision. Jianchun Zhang, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, presented letters of appointment to the representatives of the Expert Committee.

Xiaoguang Wang has long been devoted to the basic theory of digital asset management, information organization methods and technologies and their application research in digital publishing and digital humanistic data infrastructure construction. He innovatively put forward the application theory of smart data construction and service, and developed a series of tools for the construction, management and publication of cultural heritage smart data, which provides theoretical and methodological guidance for overcoming the problems of digitalization and capitalization of digital resources. He was interviewed and reported by Guangming Daily, Chinese Social Sciences Today, Wenhui Daily and other media for many times, and was also invited to give thematic reports in famous academic institutions and high-end academic forums at home and abroad, such as Académie des Sciences d’outre-mer, ADHO Digital Humanities Conference, and International Confucian Association. The Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, which he co-founded, is the first digital humanities research center in China, was in the pilot construction list of the first batch of Philosophy and Social Sciences Laboratory of the Ministry of Education in 2022. The Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, takes the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese excellent traditional culture as its responsibility, focuses on the frontier topic of digitalization and intelligentization of cultural heritage, conducts interdisciplinary research in the fields of cultural heritage, digital humanities, data science and artificial intelligence, has established stable cooperative relationship with many well-known cultural heritage protection and management institutions in China, and is implementing several major scientific research projects.

The China National Archives of Publications and Culture was approved by the General Secretary Xi Jinping. It is an important cultural project in China in the new era and is known as the Chinese cultural seed gene bank to preserve and display national publications and culture resources. At present, the China National Archives of Publications and Culture has preserved ten categories of important publications and culture versions since the founding of People's Republic of China. Meanwhile, it has archived Chinese ancient books, revolutionary documents, religious documents, woodcut rubbings, genealogy of inscriptions, coins, stamps, digital versions of film and television dramas, and foreign quality publications with historical and cultural values. As of May 2023, the total number of archived publications was about 25 million copies/pieces.
