On August 31, the National Publishing Discipline Co-construction and the work meeting of the Teaching Steering Committee of Publishing Major Degree Graduates was held in Tianjin.

At the meeting, Jianchun Zhang, Deputy Director of the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China, unveiled for the Publishing Research Institute of Wuhan University.

Weiqing Xu, Deputy Director of the State Council Academic Degrees Committee Office, and Deputy Director General of the Department of Degree Management and Postgraduate Education, Ministry of Education, Wugui Deng, Vice Minister of the Publicity Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee, and Zhuanghai Shen, CPC Deputy Secretary of Wuhan University, attended the meeting and witnessed the unveiling ceremony.

The Publishing Research Institute of Wuhan University is jointly established by the Publicity Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee and Wuhan University. Wugui Deng addressed on behalf of the co-construction institutions. He pointed out that the co-construction of national publishing discipline is a major event in the publishing community and also an important event in the publishing academic community of colleges and universities. The Publicity Department of the CPC Hubei Provincial Committee would rely on Hubei's complete publishing industry system, pool high-quality publishing resources, combine with Wuhan University's advantages in teaching, scientific research and personnel training, make a top-level design of publishing discipline development with the goal of building a first-class publishing discipline, actively explore a multi-disciplinary development model for government-industry-education-research-application, solidly promote key tasks of co-construction, and make contributions to building a publishing discipline system, academic system and discourse system with Chinese characteristics, and Chinese style.

Wuhan University is one of the earliest colleges and universities in China to have publishing discipline. It has been more than 40 years since then, and it has the ability to train publishing talents with undergraduate, graduate, doctoral degree and postdoctoral station, and has delivered more than 8,000 senior professionals for the national publishing industry. The Publishing Research Institute of Wuhan University will rely on the interdisciplinary advantages of our university and the solid foundation of publishing-related disciplines, strengthen the collaboration of Industry-Education-Research, adhere to the school-running philosophy of science and technology leading, global vision, interdisciplinary and regional characteristics, deepen the co-construction mechanism of government department and university, and build a high-level publishing research institute.
