The Student of Wuhan University Won Financial Support from the Science Popularization Ability Improvement Project of China Association for Science and Technology for the First Time

China Association for Science and Technology (CIST) announced the list of financial support of the Science Popularization Ability Improvement Project. Qinggong Shi, a 2019-year-grade doctoral student majoring in Library Science in the School of Information Management of Wuhan University, with the project ofResearch on the Path of Public Library Participating in Information Literacy Science Popularization Education(Project Category: Science Popularization Theory and Practice Research, Project No.: kxyjs202025) was in the list. This was the first time that postgraduate of Wuhan University has been supported by the project.

Based on the requirements of thePublic Library Law of the People's Republic of Chinaon the social education function of public libraries, Qinggong Shi's project, through literature survey and network survey, systematically investigated the social environment, innovation mode and education content of foreign public libraries participating in citizens' information literacy education, and combined with the practice of information literacy education in China to explore the path of China’s public library participating in citizen’s information literacy education, and provided Chinese experience and Chinese plan for public library participating in citizen’s information literacy education.

The Postgraduate Science Popularization Ability Improvement Project was set up in 2010 to fully implement theNational Science Quality Action Plan Outline (2006-2010-2020 Year), it aims to promote the growth of high-end science popularization professionals, guide and support graduate students of science popularization related majors and directions for actively participating in science popularization research and practice, and enhance their interest in science popularization and innovative research ability. In 2020, the project received 491 projects recommended by 114 universities and scientific research institutes. Finally, 35 science popularization theory and practice research projects and 15 science popularization creation and practice projects were approved for funding.
