On January 19, the kick-off meeting and feasibility seminar on implementation plan of the National Key R&D Project “Key Technologies R&D and Application Demonstration in the Construction of Smart Library System” was held in Beijing. The project is led by Dan Wu, Professor at the School of Information Management, Wuhan University.
Jiang Wu, Associate Dean of the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, presided over the opening ceremony of the project kick-off meeting. Jinguo Zhang, Director of the Modern Service Department, High-tech Research and Development Center, National Natural Science Foundation of China, explained the strategic significance of this project, and introduced the specific requirements of national key R&D projects in detail.
Wei Jiang, Group Leader of the Project Experts, Professor at the Communication University of China, presided over the session of feasibility seminar on implementation plan of the project. Dan Wu introduced the general information and implementation plan of the project. The people in charge of sub-projects reported the specific implementation plans of their projects respectively. Experts discussed the project and the sub-project implementation plans, and put forward suggestions from the aspects of serving the national strategy, the scientific and forward-looking of the plan, and the difficulties that may be faced in implementation.
The National Key R&D Project “Key Technologies R&D and Application Demonstration in the Construction of Smart Library System” was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology of the People's Republic of China in December 2023. The project aims to establish a smart library service system, optimize the precise management and matching technology of smart library resources, develop an integrated service platform for smart libraries, build key technical standards and assessment methods for smart libraries, and form an application demonstration in multi-tier public libraries. The research and implementation of this project will help promote the realization of the goal of digital and intelligent construction of public cultural services in China.
