The book launch ceremony of the English monograph Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations was held at the University College London on September 26th. The book was organized by the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, and made full use of the advantages of multidisciplinary integration. Wei Lu, Vice President of Wuhan University, attended the ceremony online.

Charlie Inskip, Professor and Head of the Department of Information Studies at UCL, and Jin Gao, Lecturer in Digital Archives at UCL, presided over the launch ceremony.
In his speech, Wei Lu expressed his gratitude to UCL and Chinese Embassy in the UK for their support to this book launch ceremony. He said that the communication between British universities and Wuhan University has a long history. At present, Wuhan University has established inter-university cooperation or carried out project cooperation with nearly 24 British universities, including UCL. The two sides have carried out various forms of exchanges in the aspects of teachers and student exchanges, scientific research cooperation, and Sino-British higher education humanities alliance. Wuhan University gives full play to the disciplinary advantages of information resource management, integrates multi-disciplinary resources such as surveying, mapping, remote sensing, literature, history and archaeology, and establishes the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory. The Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory is one of the first batch of laboratories for philosophy and social sciences that the Ministry of Education focuses on, laying a foundation for Wuhan University's international cooperation in digital humanities research, providing Chinese intelligence for the digital protection of world cultural heritage, and greatly promoting the global cooperative research in cultural heritage in the era of digital intelligence. In the future, Wuhan University will continue to adhere to the academic tenet of openness and inclusiveness, build a broader platform for academic exchanges and cooperation for scholars from all over the world, and contribute intelligence and strength to promoting exchanges and mutual learning of world civilizations and creating a better future for mankind.
Jin Zhang reviewed the cooperation history between Wuhan University and many famous British universities, including UCL, and fully affirmed many important achievements made by Wuhan University in digital humanities and cultural heritage research. She said that interdisciplinary research and teaching is one of the key fields in the future development of higher education. The cooperation between Wuhan University and scholars from different countries and different academic backgrounds is fruitful, and it is expected that there will be more international cooperation in the future. The Education Office of the Chinese Embassy in the UK will provide more support and convenience for exchanges and cooperation between the two sides.
David Coen said that UCL has a long tradition of pioneering research and digital humanities education, and the joint publication of new book has opened up a new way for them to jointly explore the important field of intelligent computing of cultural heritage, which indicates that they have made important achievements in cutting-edge research, international cooperation and knowledge innovation in digital humanities and made important contributions to the development of digital humanities. Wuhan University is an important partner of UCL, and he hopes to continue to cooperate with the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, Wuhan University, to cultivate more innovative talents with international competitiveness.
Jeremy North expressed admiration for Wuhan University's forward-looking research in digital humanities and intelligent computing. The English academic series, led by the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, and joint published by world-renowned scholars, has profound significance for the research and protection of cultural heritage around the world. Xiaoguang Wang, Professor and Associate Dean of the School of Information Management, Wuhan University, Director of the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory, and Editor-in-Chief of the series, said that the Intelligent Computing of Cultural Heritage Laboratory focused on the international academic frontier of digital humanities and took the lead in completing the compilation and successful publication of Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations, which was an important achievement of the Laboratory in international academic cooperation and condensed the collection of intelligence of many international experts. In the future, the Laboratory will adhere to the academic attitude of openness and cooperation, continue to promote the compilation of this series of books, and make greater contributions to the creative transformation and innovative development of Chinese excellent traditional culture.
After the book launch ceremony, UCL and Wuhan University jointly held the Seminar on Digital Humanities, and conducted academic exchanges around topics such as the construction of cultural heritage intelligent data in AI era, cooperation and exchange of research and education between China and Britain, digital humanities in China and digital transformation of China and Britain, historical research based on semantic web, index of Chinese iconography and so on.
Intelligent Computing for Cultural Heritage: Global Achievements and China's Innovations as the first volume of the Digital Humanities and Intelligent Computing series, was published by Routledge Publishing House, a subsidiary of Taylor & Francis. The book brought together ideas and practical cases from different regions such as Asia, Europe, Africa and North America, covering topics such as digital humanities research and teaching, digital protection and information organization of cultural heritage, data modeling technology of cultural heritage and methods of digitalization and intelligentization of cultural heritage. This book is of great significance to deeply understand the development and frontier of intelligent computing of digital humanities and cultural heritage, and the publication of this book represents the achievement of years of cooperation between UCL and Wuhan University.
