Seminar begins.

Associate Professor Liu Xiaozhong, at School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering, Indiana University Bloomington, gave a talk firstly. The topic wasNatural Language Processing and Text Mining with User Behavior Data. He shared his research ideas on improving the quality of natural language processing and text mining based on user behavior data by three cases, and he proposed a number of algorithms/applications to address different novel/classical research questions.

Associate Professor Liu Yiqun, at Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tsinghua University, whose topic wasInternet Search and Recommendation Technology in a Heterogeneous Environment, focused on the construction of user interaction behavior models in heterogeneous environments and the aggregation sorting of heterogeneous multimodal resources, search performance evaluation in heterogeneous environments, and interpretable recommendations in heterogeneous environments.

Associate Professor Zhang Yan, at School of Information at the University of Texas at Austin, whose topic wasConsumer Selection of Online Sources for Health Information.Through the display of three research results, Professor Zhang examined how individual differences influence the selection of online sources for health information.

Jiang Zhuoren, an associate researcher at Sun Yat-sen University and language technology experiment advisor at Alibaba DAMO Academy, whose topic wasScientific Information Understanding via Academic Graph Mining: Some Attempts and Explorations. He presentedhow to use graph mining algorithms to help users better understand the scientific content in the paper.

Professor Lu Wei, associate dean of School of Information Management, Wuhan University, whose topic wasCS-LAS: Academic Text Analysis Based on Vocabulary Literature, he introduced his research findings on semantic mining and recommendation of academic texts, focusing on Academic literature analysis and recommendation system CS-LAS for academic text semantic analysis.

Researcher Sun Changlong, senior algorithm expert of Alibaba DAMO Academy, whose topic wasNLP Application Algorithm of Alibaba DAMO, he introduced the achievements and vision of the NLP algorithm team of DAMO Academy, and pointed out that NLP algorithm could be applied in intelligent Q & A, intelligent justice, intelligence medical care, and public safety, among which the model and implementation of intelligent justice were highlighted.

Associate Professor Li Chenliang, at School of Cyber Science and Engineering, Wuhan University, whose topic wasComment-based Product Rating Prediction,he reviewed the work on product recommendation based on text comments of recent years, and introduced the research work on product recommendation of his group.

Professor Wei Lijia, director of Department of Economics, Economics and Management School of Wuhan University, whose topic wasDoes the Interface Matter? Economic Decision Making via Smartphones or Laptops. His study found that mobile phones or computers have no significant differences and impacts on individual decision-making capabilities and social preferences, but mobile phones or remote PCs will have significant endowment effects.

Professor Wu Dan, director of Department of Library Science, School of Information Management of Wuhan University, whose topic wasCross-device Network Search. She introduced the relevant theories, characteristics and related theoretical models of cross-device search, and demonstrated the design and development process of cross-device search system, explored the semantic change mode, behavior modeling, and prediction of search results of cross-device search query.

This seminar provided a rich academic feast for Wuhan University students, promoted mutual understanding and cooperation of the participating experts and scholars, fully demonstrating the scientific research level of the frontiers of information retrieval and human-computer interaction. At the same time, it has greatly enhanced the influence of our school in the field of information retrieval and human-computer interaction.
