【Luojia Lecture】Digital Memory: Memory Scenery in the Digital Era by Feng Huiling

On April 20, Professor Feng Huiling, Renmin University of China was invited to give an academic lecture on Luojia Lecture No.291, the title was "Memory Scenery in the Digital Era". Zhao Xuemei, deputy secretary of the Wuhan University Party committee, presented the Luojia Lecture certificate of honor to Professor Feng.

Professor Feng Huiling introduced the digital memory from four modules of environment formation, password secret, charming cube and domain analysis. She pointed out that digital memory is the digital collection, organization, storage and display of historical and cultural information of specific objects. The memory carried and transmitted in cyberspace is a form of writing memory and a realization of digital humanities.

Professor Feng summarized some research results of digital memory, and divided digital memory into national memory, regional memory, social memory, event memory, cultural memory, personal memory, and etc. and she gave some examples such as China memory and Shanghai memory projects.

Professor Feng also talked about her own views and understanding of the relationship between digital memory and digital humanities. In the interactive communication session, Professor Feng answered the students and teachers' questions about the role of the Library and Information Science, and Archival Science in digital memory.

About Feng Huiling

Feng Huiling, first-level professor and doctoral supervisor at School of Information Resource Management, Renmin University of China, former executive vice president of Renmin University of China. She is also the convener of the 7th State Council Academic Degrees Committee on Library Information and Archives Management, member of the Social Science Committee of the Ministry of Education, Director of the National Electronic Document Management Expert Committee, Deputy Director of the Academic Committee of Renmin University of China, Deputy Director of the University Council, and Director of Electronic Document Management Research Center, Director of the Humanities Beijing Research Center.

Her main research interests are basic theory of archives science, electronic document management, digital memory, and etc. She has presided over more than 40 national, provincial and ministerial research projects, and has written and edited more than 20 monographs and published more than 150 papers.
